Appraisal clause
Most standard Illinois auto policies include a binding appraisal clause — check the Loss Settlement or Conditions section of your policy. Reference: 50 Ill. Adm. Code 919.
Sales tax & fees
Insurers must include applicable sales tax (6.25% state + local) and title/transfer fees in the settlement.
Salvage & title rules
Illinois uses a total-loss formula; salvage certificates are required for totaled vehicles.
Diminished value
Illinois courts have rejected first-party DV claims in most cases. See Illinois diminished value claim guide →
How we help in Illinois
We pull genuine Illinois comparables within the local market, document trim and option packages, apply Illinois-specific tax and fee rules, and rebut every condition adjustment line by line.
The threshold decides if your car is totaled — not what it's worth
Your state's total loss threshold determines whether the insurer declares a total loss. It does not prove the ACV offer is fair. The offer comes from a valuation report — and its comparables, mileage figures, and condition adjustments can be checked.
Already have your CCC, Audatex, or Mitchell valuation report? Upload it and we'll review whether the vehicle configuration, comparable vehicles, and adjustments hold up.
